June/July Update - Our First Sport's Day (as parents that is!)
Well hello again everyone. I thought I'd try and update the blog before we all head off on our travels. We are all counting down the days till we fly on a big airplane to see 'Olver' and Baby Emma - and of course the rest of you! Noah is mainly interested in 'Olver' though 'cos he my friend!' Well it has been an eventful couple of months - mostly for Ellie this time as she is coming up to the end of her first year in primary school. We have had her first report - which was excellent and her mummy and daddy were very proud of her. We also experienced the first Sports Day which we have included some photos of. Ellie was very excited as she had ALL her grandparents, her brother and sister as well as her parents there to watch! She had a great time and definitely a good advertisement for the saying 'it doesn't matter if you win or lose as long as you had fun!' She spent most of the individual races looking at what everyone else was doing or waving to her fans rather than racing! She did come in first as part of a relay team which she found very exciting. Her daddy and Grandad Bernie also took part in the parents/grandparents race. She was very proud but was a little torn as who she should cheer for as they were on two different relay teams - However her Daddy's team beat her Grandad Bernie's team! Needless to say I think that David is no longer 'Son-in-law' number one! Especially as Dave manages to mention it on a regular basis! We unfortunately do not have any photographic evidence of the upset as David had the camera in his pocket while racing!
Ellie has also had a Teddy Bear's picnic with 6 of her friends from school. Mummy and Daddy said she could have one as she will be missing the last few days at school and therefore all the parties. It was a hideous day for a picnic as it poured down all day (as it has most days in June and the beginning of July over here - oh my God I must have lived here too long I'm talking about the weather!) However we didn't let that dampen (pardon the pun) our spirits. We had an indoor picnic and played pass the parcel, find the teddy, musical bumps and musical statues. We also had Teddy shaped sandwiches, teddy crisps and decorated our own teddy biscuits. It was a lovely day that I'm sure Ellie will remember for a while.
Bringing up the rear!
Found her little ponytail on the top of her head quite useful in this race!
Egg and spoon race (however the egg looks suspiciously like a ball)
Ellie and her friends dancing as her Teddy Bears picnic!
We had a bet with Ellie that she couldn't stay quiet for 5 minutes. She said she could - so for an extra scoop of ice cream as the wager we put her to the test! It nearly killed her but she managed it - even though she had to cover her mouth with both her hands and stand by the microwave to watch the timer by the end of it - the things you will do for 5 minutes peace! However I think we will be hard pressed for peace in this house as I think that it may be possible that we have another member of our family that just might out talk Ellie (I know I never thought it possible either). Noah is a little chatterbox and certainly giving his big sister a run for her money! Hannah is not very vocal but to be honest I think she just can't get a word or coo/gurgle in edgewise! She quite entertained by the other two and I sometimes have to tell them to calm down as they have Hannah is such fits of laughter I get worried that she is going to hurt herself!
Noah had a haircut recently and he was a big boy and let his daddy take him and he didn't cry! Daddy was quite pleased as I think the last time he took him and he freaked out was quite traumatic for Daddy! Noah has got some exciting news - he now sleeps in a big boy bed and he can also drink from a big boy cup!! Now if only he would go to the toilet like a big boy but alas he isn't quite ready to be that big yet!
Demonstrating his new found skill! - PRE HAIRCUT!!!
Enjoying some tv with his little sister - post haircut
Well everyone hope you enjoy the latest pics. We will be seeing you all very soon in the flesh I hope - or most of you anyway!

Let the record show that Granddad had a sore hip a sore shoulder and the cups he was given were smaller than the ones Dave was using in the fill the bucket race. Under the circumstances I thought our team did very well and we got an honourable mention but no sticker. I will be practising for next year when we get back to Canada and Davey boy will have to watch out next year.
Granddad Bernie
Congratulations Ellie on your first completed school year!! I wish we could have been on the cheerleaders bench for the sports day! Uncle Adam says that if he had been there...he would have won the uncles fill the bucket race even without a cup!!! He'd probably just walk on his hands and fill his nostrils....he'd fill the bucket at the other end in a one-er!
Congratulations Noah on your achievements...I hope you will sometimes drink out of a sippy cup still as Uncle Adam doesn't let little boys have drinks away from the table unless they are in a sippy.
Finally, Hannah Lucy...I think you are bigger than your big cousin...we can hardly wait for you to get here so we can compare!!
Looking forward to Tuesday!!
Love you all...have a safe flight..we'll see you at the airport!!
Rachael, Adam, Ollie and Emma
